Structural and Mechanical Engineering

We offer the services of trusted structural and mechanical engineers as consultants directly to our firm. We pay close attention to the demands that structural and mechanical systems bring to bear on each design, often engaging with a chosen engineer before we begin design, so that we can identify the most logical and cost-effective systems. Typically we will work with a structural engineer to review our work and approve sizes and details of all structural engineering design components, retaining them to check the structure as it is being built. Not infrequently, in a renovation or difficult site, the construction process will have a direct bearing on materials and details. For those cases, we often bring the structural engineer and contractor together to solve problems.

When the demands of a mechanical system are relatively simple we work with licensed mechanical engineers who are also subcontractors. Our experience is that "design-build" firms provide cost effective solutions because they are up to date on the new products, they provide maintenance services, and they have a practical understanding of what continues to work well. We also have long-standing relationships with independent mechanical engineering firms and rely on them when a high level of expertise is needed.
