| A new four bedroom summer residence
on Little Cranberry Island, faces Mount Desert Island and Acadia
National Park. The owners asked for a design which maximized
privacy and flexibility for visits by their children and grandchildren.
Two separate buildings are connected by a screened porch, which
is the entry and outdoor “mud room,” and frames views
of the park. The building to the left of the porch is comprised
of three bedrooms, two baths, and a small living room and kitchen,
intended for the extended family. The main house to the right
of the porch is comprised of a first floor open living-dining-kitchen
space with a bay window seat facing toward the mountain. On the
second floor are a master bedroom, study, and two baths, insuring
maximum privacy for the parents. |
